ENERGY. You cannot talk about the Southern Knights without mentioning their energy. The passion. The vibe. They bring 100% to everything; fellowship, projects, hospitalities, bonding, games, and enjoyments. They bring their A-game. And that is the same spirit they showed up with at the club’s 11th Presidential Installation.
It was a full house in Sezibwa Hall at Hotel Africana. Gents draped in well-pressed suits. Ladies twirled in classy gowns and trendy outfits. Neat makeup. Fresh hair-dos. Everyone looked suave and dapper. The room was filled with fun, hugs, laughter, and loud chatter. The Rotaract Club of Kampala South aka Southern Knights had brought their legendary vibe.

After the recitation of norms and introductions of guests, the event kicked off with a guest induction ceremony. The Knights’ family welcomed 5 new members; Kato, Samantha, Ruth, Shakirah, and Theresa. This increased its membership to 116, ranking it as the largest Rotaract community-based club in Africa.

After a few speeches from club leaders, IPP Kevin Katalemwa passed on the leadership mantle to President Pius Emuli Wajega in a moment of mixed emotions. IPP Kevin’s reign had exemplary leadership, commitment, and fun service. With a vibes master as President, the Rotary year 2021/2022 was dubbed as the Knights’ year of vibes. Members did not just serve, they had fun while at it.
As much as it was coming to an end, the new Rotary year with Pius as President, excited everyone. These two gentlemen embody the values and culture of the Southern Knights. No doubt the club will soar higher in the new year.

Pius Emuli Wajega was then installed as the 11th President of the Rotaract Club of Kampala South. Mother club past president, Patrick Lassu, officiated the ceremony amidst loud cheer and applause. In his acceptance speech, President Pius vowed to serve the community, club, and Rotary fraternity to the best of his ability. He would collaborate with different entities, other Rotaract clubs, and his board of directors to accomplish district and club goals.

Although President Kevin leaves big shoes to fill, the new club leadership is ready to take on the challenge with fresh strategies. They intend to finish what was started, innovate, and birth new ideas for the club.
